Childhood Obesity: Treatment, Policy, Latest Issues

My name is Latrisha Hampton & i understand all to well of what there going through with the weight problems. I've always wanted to go & do what there doing now but never were able to i really would love going to WellsSpring Camp & do what ever it takes to loose this weight, im not sure exactly what my weight is but i know for sure im well over 300lbs, i truly want to loose this weight & feel better about myself, my self-esteem to me is low when it should be high i dont want to be this way for ever... Please HELP!!!

i would love for my daughter to be able to participate in a program like 'wellsprings', but after looking at their rates i know, i'll never be able to send her. my daughter is a wonderful girl, but a lot of people don't get to see that side of her because they just look at the fact that she is FAT (275lbs). i wish i could help her! i'm disabled and my husband doesn't earn much about minimum wage, so i know i'll never be able to enroll her in one of those weightloss camps.

What are there rates?

it depends what you sign up for, but it's several thousand dollars. they have all the rates on their web-site.  
 
all the stuff they do looks like lots of fun, but i think it comes down to learning the life-style changes. they say that the kids get taught choices they'll have to make for the rest of their lifes. the average weight loss is 2-4 lbs per week. during a 4 week camp that's only about 15 lbs.

You can do this. Start by talking to your doctor. Read labels and reduce fat grams, and walk everyday. Track your steps, and shoot for more steps everyday. If your insurance provides a counseling benefit, then consider cognitive behavioral therapy. If you can afford the program, it works. If you can't, you can do it. Drink water and calorie free beverages. Last primary rule...write down everything you eat, and write down your fat grams and jot down your feelings for the day. Simply holding yourself to an honest log goes a long way toward helping you to think before you put something in your mouth. YOU CAN DO IT:)

We need something like this here in Hawaii! my son is 15yrs old 6'1 and 375lbs.
